We're going on an egg hunt!

On the last weekend of The Big Egg Hunt we took the kids up to hunt the eggs for the last time - slightly easier on the feet this time as they were in closer proximity!!!
We bought the I-SPY-EGGS book and set to work...

it was a bit like egg bingo (I was told!)

I wonder who's egg this is????

It was such an amazing sp'egg'tacle!

We loved Rebecca Sutherlands wOL in the Pop up shop

Rob Ryan's The Bird's Promise egg - we heart Rob Ryan!

Bit worried that Pandora might pop out to say hello! :0

Blooming lovely - Pretty Polly!

There were so many amazing eggs - once we got up close you could
really see the amount of hard work and love that had gone into them all!

My Ostrich eggs had all sold out but you could still get one of these in the shop...

...and there WAS Wally!

ticking off the last few eggs...

...and then we said our final goodbyes to the Alpha Egg :(

Bye bye! xxxx

An Eggcellent evening in Covent Garden

Then my sister and I had a little wander through the eggs in the darkness...

It was really magical...

Lurking between the eggs!

An Eggcellent Evening!

All eggs in one basket...well Covent Garden actually!

All the eggs have now been moved into and around Covent Garden for the last Easter week of the Egg Hunt. On Wednesday 4th April I was invited down to Covent Garden for a preview night of some of the eggs.

There was music and singing from some fabulous 1940's Gals and much welcomed hot pie and mash - it was soooo cold but we soon got warmed up!

We got to wear these beautiful corsages provided by Robbie Honey

and meet some of the other artists taking part - like the lovely George Butler who illustrated this beautiful egg!

It was also quite humbling standing close to my egg, listening to peoples comments and watching them take photos...

I also met the lovely Emily who had completed the whole hunt of 210 eggs - an amazing achievement - and I was asked for my first ever autograph!!!

Rachel Waldron and Mark Shand said a few words and then we were entertained by Drummond Money-Coutts (DMC) the magician with amazing slight of hand!

It was in his wallet all the time!!!

Limited Eggition Print

You can now get your hands on this lovely A3 Egg Hunt Shaped print based on my Alpha Egg of London - it's signed and limited to just 100 copies and only available from The Big Egg Hunt pop up shop in Covent Garden. Proceeds to Action for Children & The Elephant Family!

You can also email info@thebigegghunt.co.uk where they will happily take your credit card details and post it on to you!

All ready to fly the nest!

The final ten ready to be boxed up and sent to London Town!

I must admit I felt quite sad to see them go - they had become my babies for a few weeks
and I felt quite protective over them especially after all the loving care I had put into them!

But more importantly - you can buy them from The Big Egg Hunt pop up shops in
Covent Garden and Selfridges and help to raise lots of money for two fabulous charities!

We're going on an egg hunt, we're going to catch...some little ones!

It was also lovely to be asked to create some smaller limited editions of the Alpha Egg of London on ostrich eggs! They are for sale in The Big Egg Hunt pop up shop in Selfridges and now also in the pop up shop in Covent Garden.

They arrived already blown and felt like porcelain with a very dimpled surface. They are all slightly different in shape and size (as I found out after I sized the design up on a larger egg and then had trouble fitting it all on a smaller egg!)

I made a paper template again and then sent the artwork off to Dave and Amanda again at SK Signs & Labels Ltd to create smaller vinyls.

Then I trimmed the characters out and set to work!

The surface was very slippery and it took a while to do each vinyl - lots of achy fingers but got there in the end!

I do love Bernie and Bert!

One down...nine more to go!

Egg-static!

So here it is - me with my finished Alpha egg of London. Actually is is somewhere here but you will have to find it!

A well travelled egg

Tom then took the egg to be lacquered to seal the vinyls and protect them for being scratched...

It's dirty work but someones got to do it!

Then it had to dry off and harden for a few days before I could pick it up and deliver it to Egg HQ!

Get Cracking!

The rest followed without much problem until we got near the bottom on the curviest part and then the hairdryer had to come out to warm the vinyls so they stuck to the curve!

and this little character is my favourite!

An eggcellent day!

Early one sunday morning armed with big mugs of tea and the leftover Christmas biscuits, Tom & I got to work...

We took photos of all angles of the egg and then removed the template images then the egg had to be cleaned ready for the vinyls.

(I must have been eating Bourbons at this point!)
All clean and ready to go!

And so we started at a for Albert!
