How do you like your eggs in the morning...

...preferably hidden somewhere in New York!

I am excited to announce that I will be one of a small group of UK artists and designers who will be taking part in The Faberge Big Egg Hunt in NEW YORK from 1st April 2014!

We will be joining forces with American artists, designers, architects and photographers to take part in the world's BIGGEST egg hunt raising vital funds for two worthy charities:
The Elephant Family and Studio in a school
.

Over the next few weeks I will be posting updates and information about The Big Egg Hunt and the egg I created.

Elephants, Eggs, Tigers...

It has to be said that Elephant Family make raising money fun, with Elephant Parade London, Jungle City and The Faberge Big Egg Hunt London they raise vital funds whilst inspiring people through art!

Luckily you do not have to wait for the next auction or fundraising event, you can commission artists who have taken part in previous events to create an egg, crocodile or elephant to your very own design!

The Elephant Family produced an Art Book featuring 35 artists to enable buyers to commission these sculptures.

Bespoke commissions can be created or a design inspired by previous sculptures.
So if you fancy a crocodile in your swimming pool or a baby elephant in your child's nursery or playroom contact Elephant Family here.

More eggs in the basket

Shortly after The Big Egg Hunt ended, I was commissioned by Action for Children to create 11 more ostrich eggs to send out as a thank you to partners and organisations that had supported the Charity during The Big Egg Hunt.

The design was based on a group of young carers from one of the Action for Children projects in London. It centered around their hopes and dreams for the future and was full of positivity and optimism.

The Children were also involved in the project and created an egg for the hunt which you can see here:

Art is such a great way to express yourself, it helps young people forget their worries for a short time. Their hopes and dreams were amazing and the sky was the limit! The final design was vibrant and fun and I hope captured the optimism they all shared.

Cracking records

The Big Egg Hunt also broke the Guinness World Record for the most participants in an egg hunt!

...so...it's been a while...

...nearly two years!
After the egg hunt finished in London we were having lots of building work at home, so I took my designer hat off and put a hard hat on! With so much dust and disruption I abandoned all work for a while and turned into Sarah Beeny!!!

I was completely shocked and blown away when the bidding ended on the egg auction. The Alpha Egg of London ended up raising a massive:

£12500!!!

It was such an amazing feeling to have raised so much for two worthy charities and to have taken part alongside so many talented artists and designers.

I did get to say one last goodbye to The Alpha Egg and I think it will be very happy in its new home!
